I was born and raised in Zagreb, Croatia, where I got my BA and MA. I am currently getting a dual-title graduate degree in Spanish and Language Science at Penn State. My primary academic focus is the comparative Romance linguistics, particularly the verbal system. To be able to investigate this topic, I participated in the creation of the RomCro comparative corpus at the University of Zagreb, which I then used for my master’s thesis, which compared the use of the verbal mood in object clauses in four different Romance languages.
Apart from Romance languages and Basque, I am also deeply interested in Hungarian, Japanese and the languages of the Caucasus, as well as the Indo-European language family from the historical/comparative perspective. Outside of my linguistic activities, I am an avid fan of anything geography-related, as well as architecture and urbanism, cooking, biking, conlanging and worldbuilding.
