How to Install an Operating System Upgrade on a PC with Software Center

  1. Open Software Center from the start menu or desktop if the icon appears on your desktop. To open Software Center from the start menu click on the following buttons:
Start Button --> All Apps --> Microsoft System Center --> Software Center
  2. Once Software Center opens, choose the view setting your most comfortable with. To change your view setting, click on the view icon you prefer on the right side of the Software Center window under the Search field. The options are List View or Tiled View.

  3. On the left side of the Software Center window click on the Operating Systems button.

  4. Generally, you will only see one upgrade available for your operating system. Click on the available update to open its detailed view.  To install the available update click the Install button.

  5. Once the upgrade has started, you will not be able to work on your computer until the update has completed and it’s setting at the lock screen. Your PC may restart several times during the upgrade. You should allow anywhere from 30 to 120 minutes for an operating system upgrade.
