NOTE: Computers managed by the Liberal Arts College do not need to download the VMWare Horizon Client. Only outside computers must download the client.
Welcome to the IT Hub! Click on the round account button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. The icon should have your initials on it.
A menu will appear. Click on the ‘Account’ button.
This will take you to the ‘Preferences’ screen. Under ‘Horizon Client,’ click the blue ‘Install’ text.
This will take you to the following screen, where you will see “VMware Horizon Client for Windows” Click on the “Go to Downloads” button.
Once clicked, you will be taken to the “Download Product” screen. Hit the blue “Download Now” button. The download may take several minutes.
You may get a pop-up asking to you to ‘Open With’ or ‘Save File,’ choose ‘Save File,’ then click the OK button.
Once your download has finished, double click on the “VMware–Horizon–Client.dmg” in your downloads folder to launch the installer. Your download may have additional numbers at the end of the name signifying client version.
Next, you will see the following screen and will need to agree to the terms.
Once you see the following screen, you will need to drag the Horizon Client into your applications folder as shown below.
Next you will be asked to enter your computer’s administrator password. Enter your administrator password and complete the installation.
Once the application installs and the install dialog closes you will see the Horizon client in yourapplications folder. You can close the installer dialog box at this point.
Before opening the Horizon client, you will need to make a few setting changes in SystemPreferences.
- Open the System Preferences on your Mac
- Go to “Security and Privacy”
- Scroll down in the left-hand column, click on “Accessibility”
- Scroll down in the right-hand column to “VMware Horizon Client”
- Click on the lock icon in the lower left-hand corner of the window allowing you to make changes and check the box
- Close system preferences
The system may ask you to restart. If it does, click “Restart Now.”
